CAIRO: Military forces closed off al-Nasr and al-Tayaran Streets and all the roads leading to Rabaa al-Adaweya Square in Nasr City Sunday in anticipation of marches called for by the Muslim Brotherhood in commemoration of a 100 days passing after the forced dispersal of the Rabaa al-Adaweya and Nahda Square sit-ins on August 14.

Fifteen cars carrying soldiers are stationed in front of Rabaa al-Adaweya Mosque, in addition to two armored military vehicles and two armored police vehicles at the beginning of Nasr Street from Tiba Mall.

While in Tahrir Square, armored vehicles spread across the entrances of the square from Abd el-Moneim Riyad Square, the entrance of Qasr el-Nil, Mohamed Mahmoud Street, Talaat Harb and Bab el-Louq. The entrances were also closed off with barbed wires and iron barriers.

Additionally, Central Security Forces and military forces were deployed around the Ministry of Defense, with two armored vehicles in front of the ministry’s entrance.

Ramsis Square has also been closed off.

Outside of Cairo, the governorate of Suez is under high security alert with public facilities, such as the Suez Governorate building, Ahmed Hamdy tunnel and the Suez Canal waterway heavily secured.
