CAIRO: The importing of butane gas is operating regularly, with the arrival of two ships, one carrying 5.5 tons of butane gas and another carrying 8.5 tons, at the Suez Canal port, said Deputy Head of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) Amr Mostafa on Thursday.
“There aren’t any constraints on the butane gas import,” said Mostafa, adding that the domestic production of butane gas is also within normal rates.
Furthermore, Mostafa confirmed the pumping of 1.1 million gas cylinders of butane gas per day in all governorates in order to help end the butane gas shortage in the market.
“The market is not suffering from any lack of butane gas, but unfortunately, black market traders are taking advantage of any deficiency in the number of cylinders to cause the crisis and achieve considerable profits,” added Mostafa, claiming that the crisis is expected to end within the next two days.
