In statements to MENA, Turkish Presidential Adviser on the Middle East Arshad Hurmuzli refused to comment on Egypt’s decisions, adding that the Foreign Ministry will issue a statement in this respect.
Egypt’s Foreign Ministry decided to downgrade its diplomatic representation to Turkey to level of Chargé d’affaires.
It had also asked the Turkish ambassador to leave the country.
The Foreign Ministry, however, reiterated respect to the Turkish people, blaming the Turkish government for the deterioration of relations between the two countries.
