CAIRO: Gamaa Islamiyya and its Building and Development Party criticized the decision issued by CBC satellite channel to suspend al-Bernameg show presented by satirist Bassem Youssef in an official statement on Sunday.
“Despite our reservations on Bassem Youssef’s show, both the group and the party believe that the Egyptians should enjoy the right to express their opinions freely,” the group said.
The popular satire program received criticism on late October when it returned after a three-month hiatus, with many accusing Youssef of having insulted the military as well as Defense Minister General Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.
